Vision To be the preferred provider of workforce solutions for the medical imaging industry. Mission To develop and produce high quality graduates, recruitment solutions and training programs for the medical imaging workforce in Australia and overseas. The History of ASMI The Australian School of Medical Imaging has it’s origin in the Canberra School of Sonography. This was established by Mr Rob McGregor in 1999 and delivered high quality, individual preceptorship training in ultrasound. In mid 2006, Mr Peter Mundey joined ASMI as Chief Executive Officer. Peter’s existing management networks and unique industry experience have provided insight into devising innovative solutions specifically tailored for medical imaging practices in Australia. 2005 marked a new strategic direction for the organisation with the formation of the Australian School of Medical Imaging. The ASMI Graduate Program in Medical Ultrasound (GPMU) is specifically designed to facilitate additional resource to enter the industry and continues to be built upon clinical excellence in Australian ultrasound. At the end of 2007, the ASMI GPMU (Graduate Program in Medical Ultrasound) had produced more than 70 trainee sonographers, with over 40 qualifying as accredited medical sonographers with ASAR registration.
