This practice has progressively expanded over the past 14yrs to now encompass the full gamut of imaging modalities from plain x-ray to high-field MRI. John helped coordinate the ultrasound component of imaging services provided within the polyclinic at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and is co-author of the Atlas of Imaging in Sports Medicine, an international textbook that has become a popular reference used in daily clinical practice by many radiologists, sports physicians and physiotherapists.
Stephen Bird is currently employed as the Charge Sonographer at Benson Radiology in Adelaide and is the ASMI Musculoskeletal Sonography Training Coordinator. Stephen began sonography in 1990, holds a General and a Vascular DMU and a Masters of Medical Sonography from the University of South Australia. Professionally has been a member of the ASUM Federal Council, ASA Federal Council, Chairman of ASAR and Chairman of the DMU Board of Examiners. He was the recipient of the 2002 ASA Sonographer Achievement Award and in 2008 was made an Honorary Fellow of ASUM. His clinical practice case mix is that of a general sonographer, performing a broad range of general and vascular examinations. He has a special interest in vascular, small parts and musculoskeletal ultrasound and has published and presented numerous papers on these topics.
Ms Lisa Briggs AMS Lisa commenced her career in radiography at Prince Henry Hospital, Little Bay in 1983. In 1989 she chose to embark on her career in general sonography. Finding ultrasound as being a viable imaging modality for musculoskeletal sonography, Lisa became a pioneering figure of the MSK ultrasound specialization from 1993 onwards. Her expertise in the field has seen her lecture and teach both on national and international levels over the past decade. Lisa now dedicates herself to working as a clinical sonographer with shoulder surgeon Professor George Murrellat at his private clinic in Kogarah, Sydney. She also continues to provide services as a visiting clinical MSK sonography specialist to the Canberra Imaging Group.
